Is CBD the miracle for PCOS symptoms?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) shouldn’t define your life. Instead, it should take a back seat as you take charge and enjoy what you always do.

If you don’t already know by now, PCOS is a hormonal disorder among women in their prime time reproductive era - because who doesn’t love bleeding every month! But that’s not necessarily the case for people with PCOS. It’s more than that. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods and even excess male hormone, androgen levels.

Symptoms of PCOS typically develop around the time a girl gets her first menstrual period. Sometimes, in response to weight gain, PCOS may develop later. Signs and symptoms are typically even more severe if you’re overweight. To have a true diagnosis to PCOS, you may experience at least two of the following symptoms:

  • Elevated androgen levels. Excess levels of the male hormone may result in excess facial and body hair, and maybe even sever acne and male-pattern baldness.
  • Irregular periods. Infrequent or even prolonged menstrual cycles are the most common sign of PCOS. If you have more than 35 days between periods and abnormally heavy periods, that may be a tell-tale sign. Irregularity can also lead to infertility. In fact, PCOS is one of the most common reasons of infertility in women.
  • Polycystic ovaries. If your ovaries are enlarged and contain follicles that surround the eggs, the ovaries might fail to function regularly.

Women who have been diagnosed with PCOS know that when it’s at its worst, it can be debilitating. And even though right now there is no set cure, you can manage symptoms with our favorite chemical plant compound, CBD.

As we know, CBD helps maintain homeostasis in the body. It balance everything from hormones, neurotransmitters, metabolism, and neurological activity affected by PCOS.

There are many benefits of CBD for PCOS, including:

  • Reduced Anxiety. CBD can help your body use its serotonin and give you a good night’s rest. All of this might help you feel less anxious and stressed.
  • Hormonal Headaches. If you get bad headaches right before your period begins, it’s because of the fluctuation in your hormone levels. CBD can help alleviate that pain.
  • Mood Swings. Having a mood swing is not pleasant for anyone involved. But research shows CBD may help your body to use its own serotonin to give it a boost, enhancing your mood. It can also leave you with a calming effect.
  • Getting Pregnant. CBD contains Omega 3 fatty acids. This might help enhance egg quality and lower inflammation as well as in regulation of hormones. Having a healthy egg is very crucial to ensure a successful pregnancy. Not to mention, Omega 3 has been known to help with ovulation, hormone regulation and cervical mucus.

If you do decide to use CBD for PCOS, don’t expect a miracle to happen overnight. It’s definitely a gradual process with the biggest changes happening over time the more often you use it. But it’s a way healthier alternative to NSAIDs (Advil, Tylenol, Midol).

In fact, a portion of our customers using Mensies CBD Patches say it helps with their PCOS and find it superior to other pain relievers. Part of it has something to do with Mensies Patches not being accompanied by gut health disruption which can even help reduce inflammation in the gut.
