Of course, you can use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen to
relieve period cramps and other uncomfortable menstrual symptoms. But if these don’t
work for you because they leave you with unwanted side effects like stomach issues,
CBD is a great alternative.
Wondering what the heck NSAIDs are? NSAIDs curb pain and inflammation by blocking
the enzyme COX-2. However, they also block the COX-1 enzyme, which isn’t related to
inflammation and pain. COX-1 is responsible for maintaining a healthy lining in the
stomach and intestines. That’s why regular use of NSAIDs is linked to a higher risk of
stomach ulcers.
According to other studies, CBD is the inhibitor of COX-2, but it has no correspondence
to the COX-1 enzyme. CBD can reduce inflammation by focusing solely on the COX-2
without causing stomach irritation and other side effects linked to typical over-the-
counter pain relievers.
Some research also suggests that people who use CBD at a high dose for chronic pain,
like cyclical period pain and PMS symptoms, report less severe symptoms after three
months of consistent use. The rule of thumb is to start low with the dosage for over a
month to build up your tolerance and find the perfect amount to consume for your body.
Since everybody’s endocannabinoid system is unique, it’s hard to say precisely how
CBD would work for others. What works for one person may not work for someone else.
Still, we have customers who can speak from personal experience about how much our
CBD Mensies Patches work.
Our customer Autumn White raves,
“These patches have changed my period pain for the better. Then, I would have awful
cramps where I could barely walk sometimes. But with these Mensies Patches, I’m
allowed to do stuff without the entire day being gone. I don’t think there is anything like
this on the market. It only takes a couple of minutes to kick in, and you instantly feel
relief. I love these patches and will get a lot of them.”
